Summer Thunders to Life in LaPorte County

When it comes to enjoying the true splendor of Lake Michigan, the rolling hills and fields of the state’s agricultural tourism capital and the fun of some of the state’s most well-known festivals, you don’t have to travel any further than LaPorte County. Especially during what each year turns out to be the county’s busiest season: Summer.

Whether feeling the rumble of the world’s fastest, most powerful offshore speed boats, feeding exotic birds by hand at the Washington Park Zoo or watching your sons and daughters smack fastballs out of Kesling Park in LaPorte, there’s always plenty to do in LaPorte County.

The area has become a standard summer vacation spot for folks from throughout the Midwest, due not only to the visual splendor of the county, but to its unparalleled service, friendliness and working class sensibilities that make any visit one to remember. The next time you’re looking for a fun-filled, relaxing and beautiful vacation, LaPorte County, Indiana, offers all you could ask for, and more.

Visitor's Toolbox
LaPorte County Northern Indiana…It’s Worth The Ride!

Begin your journey into more than 15,000 acres of Indiana dunes with a climb to the top the 123-foot Mt. Baldy, the “living dune” of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Walk along un-crowded beaches, bird-filled marshes, forests and dunes along the numerous lakes of LaPorte. Kick off your shoes and experience singing sands beneath your toes along the shores of beautiful Lake Michigan. Then walk the pier to Indiana’s only working lighthouse. Or, hike and bike over 400 miles of paved trails along and through the lake coast, farmland, woods, and quaint small towns.
